Hello
I am a visual artist, researcher, and educator whose interdisciplinary practice weaves ecological thought, indigenous knowledge, and socially engaged art into contemporary visual languages. Holding a PhD in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati and MVA/BVA degrees from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, I bridge studio explorations, fieldwork, and collaborative pedagogy. My creative and research pursuits engage the layered histories of place and community, blending direct experience with critical reflection on contemporary environmental and cultural urgencies.
Dr. Abhilasha Pandey is a visual artist, researcher, and educator whose interdisciplinary practice weaves together ecological thought, community engagement, and contemporary visual art. Her work critically explores the intersection of indigenous knowledge systems and sustainable living through socially engaged and collaborative art projects. With a strong foundation in painting and mixed media, her practice goes beyond traditional aesthetics to incorporate environmental activism and decolonial approaches.
Rooted deeply in site-specific ecological concerns, her projects address urgent issues such as soil restoration, conservation, and the erosion of commons, emphasizing long-term relationships between artists and communities. Utilizing participatory methods, she embraces dialogical and relational aesthetics that invite co-creation, fostering empowerment and critical reflection.
Her painterly works evoke the fragility of nature and our shifting relationship with it, blending poetic imagery with urgent ecological narratives. Through research, teaching, and global exhibitions, she advocates for art as a catalyst for environmental justice, social transformation, and sustainable futures.
